Private James D. Iddings, born 10 May 1842 in Floyd County, Virginia; died 9 April 1903 in Kent, King County, Washington. Served as a Private in Company A, 54th Virginia Volunteer Infantry (CSA); enrolled 10 September 1861; mustered in 19 September 1861 at Jacksonville, Floyd County, Virginia. Captured at Dallas, Georgia and incarcerated at the Federal Military Prison, Rock Island, Illinois. Released contingent upon serving for the Union forces, on 17 October 1864 and served in Company E, 3rd U.S. Volunteer Infantry and in Company B, 6th West Virginia Infantry; mustered out 29 November 1865 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
